While fully reimagined for a leisure and pleasure lifestyle, the luxurious Bovisand Harbour development also gives you the perfect gateway to enjoy a diverse choice of off-site activities, in and around the local area. From water sports for adrenaline-fuelled adventure to a relaxing sail or paddleboard session if you prefer something more leisurely, to the best in premium golf courses and tennis clubs, or horse riding to relax, unwind and enjoy the surrounding countryside, there’s really something for everyone to enjoy.

Water sports and sailing
The South Devon coastline offers plenty of opportunities to experience activities on, or under, the water. With a handful of diving centres dotted around The Sound, you can’t get closer than Discovery Divers. Located in the harbour at Bovisand itself, they offer equipment hire, one-to-one training, and charter boats so you can explore the beautiful underwater worlds around Eddystone Lighthouse and Drake’s Island, and even dive the famous Scylla wreck
Along the coast in Bigbury, the Discovery Surf School is hailed as one of the best surf schools in the UK and offers lessons, coaching, and equipment hire, for surfing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. If you want to spend long summer days in the water, this is the place to do it.
With the popularity of wild swimming on the rise, South Devon has plenty of natural bodies of water to take advantage of. Whether you favour the bracing open sea or a more serene Dartmoor pond or river, the perfect spot is never far away.
And if you enjoy saltwater swimming in a more refined environment, the Art Deco-style Grade II listed Tinside Lido on Plymouth Hoe will be your new favourite spot.
But if you’re looking to learn more about sailing so you can take to the open waters by yourself, this part of the world is the ideal training ground. Whether you’re a complete novice on the water and want hands-on basic training, or you want to qualify for your Day Skipper Certificate of Competence, the sailing schools in the area will give you the safe and professional training you need.
Some of your nearest Sailing Schools include Devon Sailing Experiences, Plymouth Sailing School, Braye Sea School and Mount Batten Centre.

Land-based sports
Of course, it’s not just the amazing South Devon coastline that can be enjoyed – the beautiful countryside has plenty to offer you as well.
Alongside the many riding schools across Dartmoor, the nearby Wembury Bay Riding School is the perfect place to explore your stunning South Hams surroundings on horseback. Whether you’re an experienced rider or looking to make your riding debut, there’s a wide range of activities, lessons, and clubs on offer.
If you’re more sports-focused, there’s a host of tennis clubs including the Kingsbridge Lawn Tennis Club and the South Devon Tennis Centre, both offering a mix of clubs and coaching on indoor and outdoor courts. And of course, the South Hams is rich in premium golf clubs to challenge even the best golfers…
Right above Bovisand Harbour, the 18-hole, Par 70 clifftop course at Staddon Heights Golf Club presents a formidable course, accompanied by rewarding views over The Sound. A second clifftop course is in play at Bigbury Golf Club just along the coast offering an 18-hole, par 70 course with amazing coast and country views.
In nearby Plympton, Boringdon Park Golf Club introduces both a 9-hole, par 36 course for shorter games, and a more demanding 18-hole, par 73 course. While the Dartmouth Hotel offers an 18-hole, par 72 championship course plus its sister par 33, 9-hole course, all set in the beautiful Dartmouth countryside.
